February is Heart Month

Andrews,Sue 113

I’m barely squeaking this in for the month of February with only two days left. I didn’t get my blog on the web soon enough to talk about it. But I had to take this opportunity to say to the women out there reading this. You may think you can “do it all,” like I once thought. Be a wife, a mother, a professional, a care-giver, and God knows what else, but it wasn’t without it’s consequences. I’ve survived two heart attacks. The first time I thought I was too young being only 55 years old. In addition to that, there was no heart disease in my family, so I didn’t think I was at risk, even though I wasn’t exercising, and eating the wrong foods while trying to do it all. I wasn’t taking care of ME. I now give testimonials for the American Heart Association as well as the WomenHeart Organization about my experiences and how to have healthy heart. It’s the NUMBER ONE KILLER of WOMEN. Get Smart- Know your Heart. It’s the only one you have.

Wiley Coyote

Here we are at graduation.

Here we are at graduation.

Here we are at PetSmart when Wiley got his cap, gown, and certificate for finishing his first class of training. He learned how to sit, stay, wait, come (well sort of) and shake hands.

We went to Class #2 and he didn’t do as well. Staff told me I took him too soon. All the other dogs were doing so well, I got discouraged. When I asked the owners how old their dogs were, they all answered THREE! Some said it was their second time for the intermediate class. I took Wiley right before his second birthday. I plan on taking him again. I’m hoping he’ll do better.

Speaking of birthdays….Wiley shares his with Elvis. I didn’t realize this until twelve months after we had him. I would have named him Presley, as the dog across the street is Elvis. Wiley turned four last month on January 8th. I think it’s time for him to take another class.
